Why should patient use CHG products?
Chlorhexidine is endorsed by the CDC, WHO, and AHRQ for reducing and controlling healthcare-associated infections. It outperforms soap and water in removing bacteria and offers superior skin antisepsis compared to agents like povidone-iodine. Chlorhexidine binds to the skin, providing up to 24 hours of germicidal protection and is commonly used in clinical sinks and patient bathrooms.
Do not mix with detergents or other chemicals. If additional moisturiser is required, use products known to be compatible with CHG based on manufacturer information. Do not use regular soap with CHG, as many soaps inactivate CHG.
